The Hostess/Host is accountable for greeting guests and assisting the supervisor in providing prompt, efficient and courteous service at all times. The Hostess/Host is responsible for taking reservations for the restaurant 1 Elgin as well as daily preparation of the restaurant reservation list. This position requires a high degree of diplomacy given the liaising tasks associated with seating guests in sections associated with each member of the serving staff.

Skill Requirements

  • Completed a high school diploma;
  • One (1) year of experience in a similar fine dining position;
  • Finely honed customer service skills;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work well under pressure;
  • Ability to work well in a team environment; and demonstrate solid relationship building skills;
  • Ability to follow specific direction;
  • Ability to work an irregular schedule;
  • Bilingual in both official languages (English and French);
  • A past record of satisfactory attendance and punctuality is a requirement.*
