Artistic Director, French Theatre

Canada is our stage
Those four words inform everything we do as a catalyst for performance, creation and learning across this great land. We are proud to be a home for many of Canada’s most exciting artists who captivate audiences on our stages and on stages across the country.

A national showcase for the performing arts, the National Arts Centre (NAC) opened in 1969, fulfilling a long-held dream of visionary leader Hamilton Southam. As one of the many projects launched to celebrate the centennial of Canadian Confederation, the NAC embodied the country’s desire to fully affirm its identity. Today, the NAC is a thriving arts organization that acts as a catalyst for the promotion, creation and transmission of knowledge across the country. The NAC has welcomed many of Canada’s foremost creative talents, and thousands more from across Canada and around the world—artists both emerging and established—have appeared on its stages in artistic collaborations of all kinds.
