COVID-19 pandemic:
The incumbent may be required to work remotely either full-time or in a hybrid fashion until the end of the pandemic. All necessary working tools needed to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of this position will be provided to the employee for this purpose.

Resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, to ensure the safety of all NAC employees, and in keeping with Ottawa Public Health (OPH) guidelines, it is recommended that while working from the NAC employees should wear masks. Whether individuals decide to wear a mask or not, we thank you for being respectful of others’ choices. Additionally, it is recommended to follow OPH guidelines on workplace preventive practices, (such as distancing, masking when distancing is not possible, ventilation, cleaning, workplace testing, and screening programs) to help prevent transmission.

On occasion, the NAC may impose the wearing of masks and the enforcement of rapid testing should it be deemed reasonable and necessary to do so.

Due to the nature of the position, you will be required to work from the National Arts Centre (NAC) building, effective your first date of employment.

Please know that although we remain under a declared pandemic, events and activities are gradually returning to the building. Consequently, staff members are expected to return to the workplace as required, or perform a combination of remote work and work from the National Arts Centre (NAC). Your direct supervisor will provide guidance and information related to the NAC's Hybrid Work Policy.

Job Reports To: Senior Marketing Manager

Key Activities

Reporting to the Senior Marketing Manager, the Associate Marketing Strategist (AMS) is primarily responsible for the tactical execution of marketing plans designed to enhance local and national exposure and maximize revenue of NAC artistic discipline productions, products and initiatives. The AMS also monitors and reports on results as required.
Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Participate in establishing critical milestones of tactics, track/monitor progress and manage workload to ensure timely and successful completion of work;
• Track and monitor revenue and expenditures to ensure adherence to budgetary obligations;
• Proactively populate and share NAC discipline specific content on social media channels;
• Participate in coordinating the development of house programs, proof bi-monthly calendars, and update website content;
• Participate in coordinating photo and video shoots;
• Participate in coordinating the collection and manage the digital storage of audio and visual assets;
• Coordinate the development of the season brochure;
• Assist with the development and lead the tactical execution of strategic marketing plans for the single ticket and subscription Marketing Strategists;
• Track and report on campaign metrics on a weekly basis;
• Assist with team duties as required.

The Associate Marketing Strategist works closely with the Marketing Strategist for Popular Music and Variety and assists with the execution of ‘surround’ including pre/post show activities as required.

Skill Requirements

• Post secondary diploma/degree in communications and/or marketing and a minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in a marketing or communications role or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
• Languages: Strong verbal and writing skills in English; fluency in verbal French would be an asset.
• Strong ability to communicate verbally;
• Excellent writing and editing skills in English, including ability to create and edit copy for collateral materials, social media posts and web content;
• Experience managing budgets;
• Experience in marketing campaign strategy development, implementation and analysis;
• Strong project management skills and attention to details;
• Creative and analytical thinking;
• Excellent interpersonal skills;
• Ability to work in a team that thrive in a fast paced, high-volume environment with shifting priorities and multiple stakeholders under tight deadlines;
• Demonstrate initiative and sound judgment;
• Proficiency in using MS Office (Teams), PowerPoint, Excel and social media platforms;
• Familiarity with, and a deep interest in the performing arts would be an asset.
