Key Activities

Under the direction of the General Manager of Food and Beverage and in partnership with the 1 Elgin Manager, the incumbent’s primary focus will be to oversee the smooth overall running of 1 Elgin restaurant including providing a warm welcome and exceptional customer service to our loyal clientele.

The incumbent will assist in the hiring, supervision, scheduling, training, and discipline of unionized staff.

This incumbent would also on occasion assist in the Banquet department and Intermission Bars department as supervisor.

Skill Requirements

• Fluency in both official languages is required;
• Post secondary diploma related to the service industry and three years of experience in a fine dining setting or an equivalent achieved by a combination of education and experience;
• Strong knowledge of restaurant operations and service techniques including food and beverage knowledge;
• Good working knowledge of P.O.S. system (i.e. Squirrel system);
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
• Good organizational skills and initiative;
• Ability to motivate team members;
• Ability to work well under pressure;
• Experience managing union employees is an asset.
